President in conjunction with PRONATURA Noreste a Document to CONAGUA for the Conservation of the Biodiversity of the Cuatrociénegas Valley

Representing Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, Salvador Hernández Vélez, our president, handed over to the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), Delegación Coahuila a document with more than 52 thousand signatures on the turtle protection Hinge and the biodiversity of the ponds of the Cuatrociénegas Valley, Coahuila.

This with the purpose of confirming our commitment to the environment and its conservation. Accompanied by the general director of PRONATURA Noreste, Mauricio de la Maza Benignos, administration officials, directors and students of the Lobos al Rescate brigades, the rector Hernández Vélez delivered this letter to the representative of CONAGUA to reaffirm on behalf of our university the care, conservation and protection of this ecological zone of Coahuila.

He stressed there is a very worrying impact in this region of Coahuila; it is well known that Cuatrociénegas is a world heritage site, hence the importance of all of us taking care of this system, because it has endemic flora and fauna regarding the origin of the planet.

Hernández Vélez said that not only the biodiversity of Cuatrociénegas should be protected, but also that bacteria should be taken care of, organisms that will hardly be able to be located in another region of the country. Taking we include this letter where we present more than 52 thousand signatures so that, together with PRONATURA, an order of safeguard and protection  may be declared in favor of the care and preservation of the Cuatrociénegas Valley.

He pointed out that within the framework of what the law establishes there may be rights to be able to conserve important ecological spaces, that is why it is issued to the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) to provide the Becerra well and its water ecosystem for the natural development of the species that inhabit this valley, such as fish, turtles and bacteria.

He thanked the director of PRONATURA Noreste, Mauricio de la Maza for worrying about this fundamental action to conserve this ecosystem of the Cuatrociénegas Valley, Coahuila.
